to love and be loved

5.18.2011

“I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.

saw this today and thought of all my recently-minted J.D. friends & a sister who just finished college. most are staying here, some are leaving and moving cross-country, but all are about to start on a long journey that will require them to hold tight to their souls and spirits.
i know each and every one of them will thrive and shine.
congrats to all the recent grads!

my life in a comic strip

5.05.2011

fact: i have the last frame of this comic strip sitting on my dresser. it belonged to my granny (another curly-Q) and was passed along to me since i was the lone curly headed child in a family of 6 girls (and 5 cousins, for that matter). it always reminds me of her and how she used to sign her letters and cards with a little curly-topped smiley face.

and i have to admit...i think there's a little truth to this whole theory
:-)

to read, to see

5.02.2011

need to finish this:
 so i can see this:

so i can then start reading this:

and eventually watch this:

i (usually) make it a point to read the book before i see the movie. 9 times out of 10, the movie gets it wrong and then you get to be that person who advises,
"oh you really need to read the book. it's just so much better."

so nice to have books back on my "to-do" lists
